Falkor’s Bloodline

Newly approved at the ATA’s 50th Anniversary Celebration in December 2024, Falkor has top-tier and internationally-recognized bloodlines that are especially rare in North America. Falkor’s special genetics combine both E.H. Windfall *E*Pg* and Heraldik xx, two of the top producers of high-performing eventing, dressage, and/or showjumping horses in the world. He is the only Windfall son available by fresh cooled semen in North America. He is the full sibling to the ATA approved stallion Fast Forward *Pb*, now gelded and in the midst of a phenomenally successful show career (winning the American Eventing Championships at the Preliminary level in 2024) with five-star rider Chris Talley, who is also Falkor’s trainer.

Falkor shows plus movement and strong jumping technique as a young horse. He is black with no markings, and 16.2 hands tall. He has a pleasant, easy-to-handle, and willing temperament. He is over 70% xx/ox in the first 4 generations of his pedigree, giving him a high blood percentage suitable for mare owners looking for athleticism, endurance, and refinement.

Falkor’s sire, E.H. Windfall *E*Pg*, was an Olympic Bronze Medalist and also was a Grand Prix dressage horse. Windfall needs no real introduction, as he has sired numerous other successful event and dressage horses for both professionals and amateurs. Notably, however, he is the sire of Tsetserleg *Pg* and Vandiver *Pg*, both of whom represented the United States in the 2020 Beijing Olympics and at multiple 5* events across the world. Windfall is also the sire of TSF Solara, an elite eventing mare and the top Trakehner event horse in Germany (by FN rating) in 2024.

Falkor’s dam, First Flight Romance*H*E*, was bred in Germany and successfully competed there in sport before becoming a broodmare. She is an Elite mare with two approved stallion sons, and is an Honor Roll Mare having produced ten foals. Her sire, Heraldik xx, is arguably the most influential and successful eventing sire in the past thirty years. Again, he needs no introduction, having multiple 5* horses in the first, second, and third generations of breeding. Heraldik xx has eighteen approved stallion sons; many say, however, that his greatest legacy is through his daughters. Some recent horses carrying Heraldik xx in their pedigree include Michael Jung’s La Biosthetique Sam FBW, Fischer Chipmunk, and Halunke FBW, as well as Tim Price’s Vitali. Heraldik xx has sired five 1.60 jumpers, with Herald 3 being a CSI5* winner and World Equestrian Games competitor. He has also sired four Grand Prix dressage horses with H-Ekewador being an Olympian, World Cup Finalist, and WEG competitor.

If the Windfall/Heraldik xx combination were not extraordinary enough, Falkor’s granddam is by Almox Prints J, a Russian-bred Trakehner sired by the exceptionally successful Hockey. Almox Prints J was an international CSI5* show jumping champion under different riders in Europe. He won Grand Prix showjumping competitions at Rotterdam and Wiesbaden and competed at two Olympics (Seoul in 1988 and Barcelona in 1992). Approved across almost all warmblood studbooks, Almox Prints J has produced international show jumpers up to 1.60 m level in various breeds, as well as several approved sons that carry his legendary genetics. In the Trakehner breed, however, his influence in breeding was somewhat limited, so to find his name in a modern pedigree is rather phenomenal and yet-again presents a rare breeding opportunity.

Last but not least, Falkor comes from one of the Trakehner breed’s most successful mare families, tracing back to Flocke by Gabriel, whose direct descendants include the century sire Flaneur, the ATA’s influential Flugwind, other important sires like Fahnenträger II, Fairmont Hill and Feingeist and a number of exceptional sport horses in all disciplines and across various stud books. For example, Rikke Svane’s approved WEG and European Championship partner, and multiple World Cup competitor Finckenstein TSF is from this line. Direct maternal relatives of Falkor include the CCI3* competitors Flight Show and First Flight Sunset, the Young Rider European Champion team and individual silver medalist First Flight Beauty, the 1.40 m show jumper First Flight and the approved First Flight Celebration.

Falkor was born in 2021 and is therefore just at the beginning of his performance career. If his relatives are any indication, however, there is a bright future ahead of him. Mare owners can take advantage of his rare and exclusive genetics now to produce sport-focused offspring by fresh chilled or frozen who should be marketable and high-potential performance horses for years to come. We are excited to see what the future brings and invite mare owners to come along for the ride.
